A member asked:

Do you think its okay for me to have a pelvic scan during my period? the result of my scans showed i have a collapsing corpus luteum. i am worried..

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need ultrasound?: The corpus luteum, which means yellow body in latin, is what is left of the follicle after a woman ovulates. In the absence of pregnancy it collapses and goes away. This is a normal process. You can have an ultrasound during menses but you may not need one if the corpus luteum is your only concern.
