Pimple/Cyst: A pimple is usually inflamed, red and painful and has a relatively superficial covering and will drain pus with warm compresses. A cyst is usually contained in a shell like container and is sore but only red if infected. It often requires excision and drains sebaceous like material. The shell requires removal to prevent it from reforming. You can find pictures on a dermatology site. All the best.
