Yes: Because Nexplanon contains progestin, it thins the uterine lining, sometimes to the point where the basal layer of blood vessels are exposed. This can lead to an irregular bleeding pattern. The oral birth control pill (I'm assuming it is a combination of estrogen and progestin) adds back estrogen to your system to thicken the lining, and cover the exposed vessels- and stop the bleeding.
