What is one's plan?: If one's plan is to have sex and avoid having babies, one must use 1 or 2 reliable forms of birth control (contraception). If the plan is to avoid babies, but no birth control method has been used yet, one must now do something... which means get an IUD or get emergency contraceptive pills (now). However if one had sex during the first 3 days of her normal regular period, those days are "safe".
