Big toe turning blue?

Circulation: Without a prior history of trauma to case bruising, my first thought would be poor circulation. As tissues receive less oxygenated blood, they turn blue and dusky. This needs to be checked promptly. See a podiatrist for an examination. If findings warrant, they will order circulation testing and possibly even refer you to a vascular surgeon.

Ischemic toe : Some background questions one must gather is; did you traumatize the toe, ? Are you diabetic, pvd, pad or previous surgery ? I would assume you need to get vascular testing to access blood flow and an x-ray to rule out fracture. In the meantime place ur foot in a dependent position and wear a surgical or rigid shoe.
