Puberty = a process: of physical maturation during which a child's body matures into an adult body capable of sexual reproduction. Hormones in the brain signal the gonads - ovaries in girls or testes in boys, to begin the maturational process. Growth plates of long bones are fused by the end of the process & adult height is reached.
