What does vicodin do to the body? what should you do if you overdose?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Call 911/narcan: Vicodin contains the opiate hydrocodone and tylenol (acetaminophen). opiates bind the Mu pain receptor. Major concern with overdose is that breathing can stop. if OD suspected, call 911 immediately. Some states are passing laws to have Narcan available which competes with opiates at the receptor to help reverse the effect (would put person in near immediate opiate withdrawal though but better than death)
