A member asked:

What are the differences between inflammation and gangrene?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Blood flow: inflammation is a normal response to an injury or infection, causing redness, soreness, warmth, and swelling. Now, gangrene is a condition wherein the blood supply to an area is inadequate, perhaps caused by severe inflammation, and the tissue actually dies, turning dark or black, and will not normalize. The tissue will slough or have to be excised. I hope this helps. Good luck.
