A member asked:

Why is self-esteem so important to our overall health?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Attitude: Self-esteem is the basis for how we interpret the things that happen to us and our response to these. If you feel you are worthless, you do not take care of yourself and may put yourself in risky situations. In addition, there may be a mind-body connection in that a positive attitude causes the physical mechanisms of your body to function more effectively.
