Axions: There are about 100 billion neurons (cells) in the human brain. Each one has 10's of thousands of connections with other neurons. They are connected physically by the brain's wiring, called axions. These networks form from use and persist over time, like a well worn path. Electrical signals travel along the axion and end in chemical connections to other neurons at junctures called synapses.
