Possibly: The kidneys make a hormone that stimulate blood production from the bone. With stage 4 disease, the kidneys may not produce enough of this hormone and cause blood level to decrease increasing fatigue. Weakness may be a result of low blood count. However, weakness is a vague symptom and can happen with an increase of toxin due to worsening kidney function. Your friend needs his labs checked.

Weakness in CKD : You need to have your friend speak to his nephrologist (n), or the physician who made the diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (ckd). His weakness may be due to a low hemoglobin level. Other causes of his weakness may be related to his heart, patients with CKD also may have cardiac problems and this may present with edema of his legs. Have him see a n as soon as possible to answer your question.
