Not quite: Diabetes can affect the nervous system but the cause of diabetes is not the nervous system. For example, poorly controlled diabetes can lead to neuropathy or damage of the nerves. It can affect the feeling of your hands and feet and less often after very prolonged diabetes can affect your autonomic nervous system and lead to stomach problems or syncopal issues.
