6 major ones: The anterior pituitary secretes 6 major hormones: 1. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (acth) which tells the adrenal gland to secrete glucocorticoids (a steroid hormone), 2. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) for the thyroid, 3. Follice-stimulating hormone (fsh) , 4. Luteinizing hormone (lh) both directed at the ovaries/testes, 5. Growth hormone (gh), & 6. Prolactin (prl) for the ovaries & breasts.

What happens if the pituitary produces too much or too little hormone?

It depends: It depends on which hormone we are discussing. Effects ranging from gigantism/dwarfism, to inability to get pregnant are possibilities. So, it is difficult to say without knowing specifically which hormone we are concerned with. The six hormones produced by the pituitary are: fsh, LH (control sex hormones), gh (growth), TSH (thyroid), acth (adrenal), and prolactin (milk).

What is the most effective pro-hormone on the market?

Pregnenolone or DHEA: I assume by pro-hormone that you mean a supplement the body would use to make hormones? If that is the case dhea or 7-keto dhea are utilized to make the male and female hormones. Then also pregnenolone which is converted into dhea and then the other hormones including pregesterone. Be careful - high doses can lead to trouble - your levels need to be monitored with a knowledgeable physician!

Hormone: Hormones should only be used therapeutically in the case of a hormone deficiency. Even then, not all hormones are recommended for replacement.

Natural?: Hi. What on earth do you mean by "natural" hormones? All REAL hormones are natural! And synthetic molecules that work at human hormone receptors are doing what they're supposed to do. Can you put on your big girl panties and get over the "natural" nonsense? There are countless excellent birth control preparations. If estradiol and progesterone worked as well, we'd use them. Good luck!
