Anxiety is medical: Long term anxiety is usually a medical problem (gad). It is no different than having high blood pressure or diabetes. The long term treatment usually involves (among other things) an "antidepressant" like ssris/ snri. The treatment is generally life long. You need to see a psychiatrist for proper evaluation. It could be something else.

Depression: Anxiety is one of the major symptoms of depression, so is early morning awakening. See a therapist for an evaluation. Antidepressant medication might be of assistance, but psychotherapy is the key.
