Panic attacks: As a psychologist, I have seen hundreds of people with panic attacks who have no cardiac issues. Therefore, I would generally say that panic attacks do not cause cardiac arrest. However, if someone has an undiagnosed underlying heart problem panic attacks could be harmful. I would suggest speaking to your internist and have a complete cardiac workup.
