Not necessarily: However, anxiety levels could be heightened in someone who feels uncomfortable with the idea of masturbating but who still engages in the behavior (ego-dystonic). Masturbation could be performed compulsively in some people). Masturbation could be used as a way to alleviate anxiety/ stress in others.

No: Almost all teenaged males enjoy their bodies in this way several times a week. So do a majority fo females. People with dubious agendas have tried to frighten them by claiming it will make them sterile, stupid, hairy, smooth, short, bald, fat, unfit partners / parents, and everything else. It'll only make you anxious if you worry about being caught. Get a lock for your door. Best wishes.

Anxiety relief: Masturbation will not cause you to get GAD. I am not familiar with any research that suggests there is a correlation between the two either. Masturbation can be used as an anxiety reliever. So, if someone already struggles with Generalized Anxiety Disorder that might be a coping strategy they employ. If masturbation becomes compulsive and interferes with life, best to talk with a therapist.
