A member asked:

If 1 or 2 new nodules have appeared while on irinotecan for mcrc, does this mean treatment failure ? what is the most effective chemotherapy ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: When irinotecani given for colon cancer it is in the adjuvant status to prevent recurrence or in the therapeutic setting to prevent progression of disease. The appearance of new nodules suggests failure of chemo. If FOLFOX has not been used it can be helpful. If progression is in liver then chemoembolization is of value. If chemo has failed, Erbitux or experimental mAb Neo 102 may help.
