Very different: Autologous serum is derived from your blood. It is an expensive treatment typically used when all other more conventional treatments have failed. It is rarely needed.

Quite different: Artificial tears are commercial products that substitute for tears. Autologous tears are a mixture of an artificial tear and the serum from your own bloodstream. They usually are superior but are reserved for more severe cases poorly responsive to regular tear drops. They have to be made in compounding pharmacies and are quite expensive. But can be of great help for those who need them.
