Cold since wed + fever around 101. today started coughing fits leaving me breathless and gasping for air. neck bulging. do i wait it out?

No: This is our flu season, so fever plus cough can be influenza. If there is trouble breathing for any reason, one should see her primary care doctor. If the doctor is not available, one should see a doctor at an urgent care clinic, or go to the local emergency room. Pneumonia and asthma can be very bad in a person with the flu.
