Menorrhagia: In most patients with abnormal bleeding, after pregnancy and other conditions are considered, a short treatment with hormones can correct the problem at least temporarily.

Worrisome: Hi. I'm glad you're seeing your doc soon; I really hope it's your gyn and not your PCP. Were you already menopausal? That is very abnormal, and depending on what's causing the bleeding, we can't give you an absolute way to stop it. Are you dizzy? Is your heart rate high? If yes to either of these, please go to the ER now and don't wait for the appointment on 3 Feb. Good luck!
