Depends on symptoms: People with mild cold symptoms, with or without mild fever, usually go to their neighborhood drug store and buy some Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin/Advil for fever and aches. But sometimes, a person has strep throat or influenza, and not just a cold. With strep, antibiotics are needed. With influenza, Tamiflu can be used if diagnosed early. Two weeks is long, so a doctor should evaluate (may be sinusitis).
