Use motrin: As a dentist and parent, i would use Motrin before tylenol (acetaminophen). The side effects of Acetaminophen are becoming more well understood, especially the effects on the liver, and Motrin will also help with the inflammation induced by teething better than tylenol (acetaminophen).

Pain relief: Tylenol (acetaminophen) wil not relieve the symptoms of her running nose or sneezing but it will offer pain relief.

New Dosing: Manufacturers changed the amount (concentration) of Acetaminophen in medicines for infants. It used to be 80 mg/0.8 ml or 80 mg/1 ml. The new concentration is 160 mg/ 5 ml. It is very important to read the label and contact your pediatrician for children this age. As noted by dr. Novick, Acetaminophen is not helpful for sneezing or cough, but can reduce pain.
