Not a fever: 98.7 is a normal body temperature. It is still possible to have a viral infection causing your other symptoms even without a fever. Take some NSAIDs, drink plenty of fluids - maybe some tea with honey in it, and see how you feel in the morning. Viral infections usually last 5-7 days.

98.7 not a fever: Temperatures of 99.5 F or 38.3 C or more would be considered a fever. "Normal" body temperature is generally considered to be 98.6 F or 37 C oral. Aches, back pain and slight sore throat may be due to a viral or bacterial illness, which may or may not include elevated temperatures (ie a fever)
