Usually but...: Grapefruit can interfere with some medications. It is best to wait a few hours between eating grapefruit and taking meds.

In general yes.: Grapefruit contains naringan which is metabolized through the cyp3a4 pathway in the liver and intestine. This pathway also processess many medications. Degree of interaction depends on amount of grapefruit and amount of co ingested medication. In general it is a good idea to separate meds and grapefruit intake although small amounts are well tolerated. Beware with Cyclosporine and tacrolimus.
