Vascular?: It sounds like you may have severe vascular disease, and need to see a doctor to see what can be done. Purple, almost black, and cold insinuate critical limb ischemia to me.

Vascular Insuficency: It is not at all related to your having had polio at age 16.It most likely is as a result of Vascular Insuficiency causing not enough blood going down to your foot. You should not waste any time and consult your Doctor asap or go to ER and get examined.If you wait too long your foot may need to be amputated. Cold and Purple feet as described by you is an emergency. More common in Diabetics&Smokers
