Bloating: You may try to treat gas with over the counter anti gas medicine. Also the diet must be targeted. Look up the low fodmap diet and try to use it as a guide for your diet.

Sorry to say this: BUT, if soda is contributing to your bloating - recommend you quit the soda. If it is caffeinated it may also be exacerbating your anxiety disorder.

Fiber: Oddly enough, sometimes even diarrhea responds well to fiber which can act as a "bulking" agent and give stool more consistency and form. Metamucil is one name brand, and psyillium husks are also available, although there are plenty of generics. Constipation symptoms can be treated with fiber as well as laxative- such as miralax (polyethylene glycol). Pro-biotics may be of benefit and are also available otc.

What is the best treatment for a celiac or IBS episode? It is so embarrassing and inconvenient :(

Dr. Saurabh Bajpai answered

Avoid gluten: Avoiding gluten is the best and probably the only thing you can do for celiac. For ibs try to avoid food that you know irritate your bowel and try to pace your food habit in a sense that will not interfere with your life. There are lots of websites for gluten containing foods which you should avoid, most groceries and some restaurants are offering gluten-free options too!

See integrative doc: First make sure of diagnosis. See a gastroenterologist. Then go see an integrative or functional medicine physician, s/he will look at your lifestyle, diet, stress, etc and, after testing, come up with a plan for you. Find docs in your area: http://integrativemedicine.Arizona.Edu/alumni.Html or http://www.Functionalmedicine.Org/practitioner_search.Aspx?Id=117.
Have hope, relief is possible.

What is the best way to deal with IBS with direara?

IBS is a diagnosis: Of exclusion- in other words you have to have stools tested and have a colonoscopy to rule out other conditions with the exact same symptoms. Read more about ibs onwikipedia or pubmed.Gov or mayoclinic.Org abd then discuss with your pcp.
