Around 2-3 months: By the time the baby is 2-3 months old, baby is able to move around enough that a bassinette usually is not the place for them to stay - as they move they may hit the sides. If the baby is in bed with you, please get her in a crib immediately - co-sleeping is one of the leading causes of infant death in this country when parents roll over on the infant and suffocate them accidentally.

Depends on you: Many mom's use a crib within her bedroom to facilitate access to breast feeding at night. Given the exhaustion that comes in the first week or so this is pragmatic. Some families will bottle feed & take turns getting up, making the use of a crib in a separate room from birth also a realistic choice. With today's wireless audio and or video monitors, i think the parents can do ether & fell good.
