Yes, never stops: Keratoconus is a progressive disease. Excellent vision is possible with early keratoconus. Several sites in the us are participating in studies of collegen cross linking (cxl) to stop, reverse or at least decrease the effects of this disease. Intacs an implantable plastic ring segment is also somtimes effective. Ridged and hybrid contact lenses can be effective in mild to moderetly severe disease.

Yes: Are you talking about your left eye? Generally after age 30, the progression slows way down keratoconus can be very asymmetric.

Absolutely: Yes. We actually see this often in patients being avaluated for lasik surgery . Keratoconus can continue to progress into your 40's and often beyond in many cases. Corneal crosslinking can stop progression in most cases. In the us, crosslinking is only available through clinical trials, I am the ny site for the cxlusa trial.
