Is five days too long to leave strep throat untreated?

Maybe: If diagnosed by culture it should be treated asap it probably will be soon enough the sequels of strep are not as prevalent now as previously and many non treated strep have no problems if known however it should be treated if not treated you should discuss with your md what to look for as far as symptoms that good occur.

Maybe, maybe not: Basic rule is the long term complications of untreated strep are avoided if treatment is started within 9-10 days of the first fever. Some strains of nephrogenic (kidney injury) strep can create problems if not treated sooner.Verification of strep is important, as most throat infections are viral.
