Varies: Vaginal hysterectomy is generally much less painful than an abdominal hysterectomy because there is no incision in the abdomen. Most of the pain from surgery comes from the skin incisions, with a vaginal surgery the only incision is at the top of the vagina and there are few pain receptors locted there - hence much less pain.
