Tzietz's syndrome: A common cause of chest wall (just under breast) pain is costalchrondritis, which is inflammation of joint which is junction of rib and breast bone. This represents inflammation due to ligament sprain or, as some theorize, virus. Effective treatment is to treat chronic disorders with cortisone injection, which can dramatically relieve inflammation. Acute disorders might respond to heat & rest.
