A member asked:

How safe is it to inject insulin without testing beforehand?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not a good idea: What if you glu is 70 and you inject insulin? You will get hypo quickly. Unfortunately, many diabetics do this... They just "wing it", inject insulin, and don't test much. Usually they learn to just keep their glu high all the time, so they don't get hypo. If your glu is always 200-350, you won't have to worry about hypo, but your control is bad, and diabetes complications will increase.
