Beta blockers: Beta blockers are a family and have similar effects with variations between agents. Either drug will work, bystolic (nebivolol) has a bit longer duration of action than plain propranolol. Propranolol is the first one on the market, bystolic (nebivolol) is newer. The one your doctor chooses for you is what i'd advise.

1st gen vs 2nd gen: Propranolol is a first generation bb and effective for heart rate control, panic attacks, migraines, angina and blood pressure control. It's very inexpensive. Bystolic (nebivolol) is new and expensive. They share the same potential adverse effects. Neither is a first line BP medicine. There are many better choices than a bb for BP control but both are good for cad.
