What is maisonneuve fracture and what is the recovery time ?is it any different than any other ankle fracture?

Proximal fibula: It is a fracture located at the proximal part of the fibula bone. Recovery time is the same and it's based on whether the fracture is complete or incomplete , displaced or non displaced, amount of displacement etc.

High fibular fx.: A maisonneuve fracture occurs when the foot everts and the leg rotates. The ligaments between the tibia and fibular tear and a break occurs in the fibula in the upper 1/3 of the bone. It is often missed because of being out of view (above) of most ankle x-rays. It is often surgically repaired by placing a long screw between the bones for stability. 4-8 weeks of nonweightbearing is common post-op.
