Bloated: Bloating is what the patient feels and it is not necessary seen on examination. However, if distension is accompanied by bloating then it can be detected on exam. So if there is bloating with distension, sucking in your abdomen fully as one would normally do may not be possible. But if just bloated, yes, it is possible.
