A member asked:

What would the implications be of a very tight tibialis posterior? i have chronic hip/back pain, and massaging this muscle has helped drastically...

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low back nerve root : Tibialis posteriior is supplied by the L5 nerve root. Usually more than one muscle will be tight due to multiple nerve root irritation fron a chronic basis with elements of acute irritation. Massage is best done on the lower back to involve the entire lower limbs, down to the calves. Massage should involve the trigger points that feel good since these are the most irritable trigger points.
