Not likely!: The elbow is affected, but not without other joints in the lower extremity also being stricken. The most common cause for elbow swelling is olecranon bursitis! the are many causes for this. The most\ serious is infection. Have him see a doctor. Gout really cannot be completely controlled by diet. Improved-yes. Controlled, no!
