Use with caution: Minoxidil is a potent blood pressure medication. In general, it is not readily absorbed from intact skin. However, it may be absorbed by compromised, irritated, or inflamed skin. Typically 2-5% is used; 30% may cause scalp itching or irritation or dandruff. Other medical side effects include a racing or irregular heartbeat, chest pain, dizziness and even fainting.
