Tolerance?: Codeine isn't a sleeping medicine but can make most people drowsy. If you take Codeine regularly, you may be developing tolerance.

Look for caffeine: Many of the common (prescribed) preparations of Codeine contain caffeine, which could very likely be the cause of insomnia. Insomnia is also a possible side effect to the Codeine itself.
