Very often: Inguinal hernias are most common. 1 in 4 males will develop an inguinal heria during hia lifetime. (75% of all hernias) 2/3 are indirect due to outpouching of peritoneum not closing spontaneously, 4-5% of boys require repairs. 1/3 of all are direct, due to muscle weakness. Uncommon in females who get femoral hernias. Umbilical common in kids.Hiatal hernias, ventral, incisional, parastomal all occur.
