Hernia: Hernia is a defect/hole in the fascia. They can stay the same or get worse, which is why doctors recommend surgical repair. If they worsen, they can cause serious health problems. Take a friend with you to see your doc and get the hernia evaluated. An elective surgical repair is a good way to handle this problem. Be well.

No: A hernia is a hole. It doesn't go away in adults unless it gets fixed. You may notice that the buldge goes down or away meaning that whatever was stuck in the hernia is no longer stuck, but the hole is still there. Belly button hernias in infants can go away on their own, sometimes belly button hernias with pregnancy go away after childbirth.

Not usually: Belly button hernias in infants can go away on their own, usually by age 4-5. Unfortunately, the only way a hernia goes away in adults is with a surgical repair.

No it will not.: An inguinal (groin) hernia will not go away on its own. It will need to be repaired.
