Yes: Psychiatrists are specially trained to deal with complex anxiety problems. You can receive a good review of your case, with individualized treatment recommendations. Since you're still not feeling well despite multiple medications, it's time to seek specialty care. Please realize, though, that psychotherapy for your anxiety will also increase treatment effectiveness.

Definitely!: Wellbutrin (bupropion) is the 1 antidepressant which probably offers little to no benefit in the treatment of anxiety and panic d/o. A psychiatrist would be the best person to manage your meds, although I have also come across pts who were under a psychiatrist's care and were nonetheless prescribed wellbutrin (bupropion) for anxiety.

Yes: Any time someone is treating with a primary practitioner and the results are not forthcoming, then it would be wise to ask for a referral to a specialist. This holds true for psychiatry as well as for any of the other medical specialties. The psychiatrist will perform a psychiatric evaluation to come up with a differential diagnosis followed by a differential treatment strategy. Best wishes to you. There are many fine psychiatrists in the milwaukee area. You should not have to look hard to find someone will get your symptoms under better control.
