Artificial tears: Flash burns from welding can be very uncomfortable. They will frequently cause significant inflammation of the cornea and can often be treated effectively with artificial tears. Sometimes steroid drops may be needed if it does not get better. If your symptoms do not improve after a few days, you should see an ophthalmologist.

Yes: A corneal flash burn occurs from welding without proper safety eye equipment. T is a sort of sunburn of the eyes, causing discomfort, eye irritation and mildly blurred vision. F your symptoms are severe or mild but persist greater than 2-3 days, see an ophthalmologist. And next time wear protective eyewear. It's so important to take care of those eyes.

Keratitis: Flash burns to the eyes from uv light emitted from welding without protective eye wear can be very painful. Often self limited in mild cases. Recommendations to help the pain usually involve using lacrilube (artificial tears) eye salve, cold compresses, Ibuprofen for pain, eyes closed. If more severe, seeing an eye md to evaluate and prescribe a cycloplegic agent & occasionally a topical non steroidal agent (acular).
