My son is 17 and is starting accutane. he's 6'4". he, of course, would like to grow an inch or two more. will accutane prevent any additional growt?

Isotrentoin: Premature growth plate closure is a known adverse effect of accutane. Have to weight the benefits versus the potential side effects.

Nobody's sure: There's talk of the epiphyses closing early when Accutane is administered. From what i've read, i suspect this is true. Maybe topicals and systemic antibiotics will be enough if this is not cystic acne likely to be truly disfiguring. There are also physicians who might be able both to delay closure of the epiphyses and stimulate growth, though this is out of the realm of standard practice.
