No: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is an osmotic laxative and has no effect on gastric emptying so will not interfere with your test.

Yes: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) should be stopped probably two days before study. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) does speed up gastric emptying. However if you have always taken MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) regularly and your doctor is interested in knowing how your stomach fiunctions while on MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) then you should not discontinue the medication. You should ask you doctor.

Probably not: There is not clear evidence on the effects of MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) on gastric emptying studies. However, given the need for a good study and length of the test, i would stop any medications or supplements that would have or possible have any effects on the gastric motility to improve sensitivity of the study. Good luck.

Probably not: The effect of several medications on the gastric emptying studies are currently under investigation. So far, there is no clear evidence that MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) has a significant effect or not on the value of gastric emtying studies. As a rule of thumb, since these radionuclide studies are performed with a very standardized meal and procedures, it is always preferable to stop all medications before the test.
