Usually no: Preventive antibiotics are given only to people at high risk due to an artifical heart valve or past heart valve infection. If there is an active tooth infection the dentist will have given you antibiotics already. To reduce the general stress of the procedure, ask whether you will receive any sedation, especially if you get very anxious with procedures.
