Mae's Lines: During times of extreme illness - like when someone is near death & in the ICU for a week getting aggressive care - the nails may stop growing for a period of time. These are beau's lines. If you see these on someone, you know that they had been in bad shape in the past few months. Mae's lines are a lesser form of these. You have been thru a physically traumatic time that can be seen on your nails.
