Trauma, infection: As with any surgery, the risks involve accidental trauma to structures not meant to be impinged on (such as nerves or the spinal cord), bleed, as well as infection from the fact you are instrumenting in what should be a sterile area.

Your orthopedic or : Neurosurgeon likely has explained to u this. Just like any surgery, anything is possible . Risks are less and recovery is faster with this procedure than the older approach using wider incision with open thoracotomy. Discuss again with your surgeon . Your life is in his hands!
