Fecalith: It solidifies into soft stone like aggregates called fecaliths. These can become calcified. The blockage can cause appendicitis, which if untreated, can be fatal. I see fecaliths very often in the appendices that i examine for appendicitis.

Stone and blockage: Stool hardens and blocks appendix, Appendix attached to cecum of right colon. Fecoliths are calcified fecal material in appendix. Sometimes obstructs the appendix causing appendicitis.Imaging with ct and ultrasound now detects smaller appendicoliths that are not obstructing in people without appendicitis. Usually size of lith in association with obstruction, inflammation and infection.
