Takes meds?: Best treatment for bipolar disorder is mood stabilizing medications. Some times it's hard to convince patients but persistence on your part that she see a psychiatrist and take prescribed meds will go a long way. Good luck!

Mother bipolar: I am assuming she has been diagnosed by a professional. The second problem is her acknowledgement that her behavior is causing impairment in relationships, work and bipolar. Unfortunately bipolar patients don't get help until a. Impulsive act such as drug addiction, speeding ticket, excessive sexual behaviors or acts of aggression leads them to trouble. Legal problems usually trigger self help.
